Interlock Electric, Inc. reaches Tampa and beyond with humble help and love for the community, and those all over the world.

"No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another." - Charles Dickens

In the first week of November 2015 a group of 12 members from Idlewild Church left Tampa to travel to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The focus of our trip was to assist in a church plant in the outskirts of Santa Cruz. We traveled over a half a day to reach our destination. We quickly got to work on the church with the help of the Bolivian church members. We created our own VBS (Vacation Bible School) for the children and led small groups with the adults to interact and create a lasting bond. During our time there we painted the interior portion of the church and did a general clean up on the inside and outside. On our last day of community service, we fed dinner to approximately 150 people in the community surrounding the church. The sense of community and love were showered over all of us during the entire trip. Actions speak louder than words, and this was so evident during our time there. The experiences gained during this trip were priceless.

Our mission team worked side by side with an established Church, in the small town of Tarcoles. The reason this specific Costa Rican ministry is so near and dear to our hearts is because of the unique and wide variety of situations the people face every single day. The most common profession in this town is commercial fishing. These fishermen have very little, their vessels are small and ill equipped, and their daily routine is very difficult and can be dangerous. Unfortunately, alcoholism and drug addiction are common place for many of these men and it takes a toll not only on their lives, but the lives of their families as well. The Bible instructs that we are also to be fishers of men, we bonded over fishing as well as intertwining the Bible with their work. Not only did our team reach out to the adults, but to the children as well. We were active in a VBS (Vacation Bible School) that incorporated fun activities and lessons for the children to feel loved and learn about the Word of God. We worked in the local school painting and also worked on upgrading the school’s playground area. This really helped to lift the spirits of the Principal and her teachers, since there is a constant challenge acquiring much needed resources to try and make the school a positive and safe environment for the children. We have been working in this community for over 8 years.

You do not have to travel far to make a difference in someone’s life. We helped our community out by serving this fall at Van Buren Middle School. The team that we went with, helped with the landscaping and cleanup around the school grounds. We spent a Saturday morning, weeding beds, and re-mulching all of the landscape throughout the entire school grounds. The parents and the students were so excited seeing the exterior makeover during their party and orientation, that they had that afternoon. The looks on their faces were well worth the sacrifice of sore backs. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in people’s lives.
